The Promised Land

In opposition to the Lost Paradise the Promised Land is the future paradise, the end of slavery, a nutritious place where less is consumed, a non-exile; it is the utopia. Following humanity paths, Matilde shows her great Rolls, almost Toras made of paper. Living matter, fragile substitute of reality marked by fire and the work of the artist who engraves, prints, burns offering fire in her work.

Legitimizing desire by a law that we have received in nobody’s desert, presence of reason with the unexpected that in this case is used and dominated by the artist who also makes use of the negative aspects.

In fact, fire darkens with its smoke, burns, devours, destroys. Matilde draws with the smoke, creates suggestive forms over the paper, creates limits, leads our eye so that it can “see”.
